Finishing the double leg against the cage
Pinning an opponent on the fence changes the double leg. Use the cage to stop their hips, then turn the corner.
Set-up
Most cage doubles start from a clinch or a level change behind punches. Your head goes to the side of their body you are driving towards, ear tight to the ribs.
Steps
- Level change and drive the lead knee to the mat between their feet.
- Lock hands behind the knees — not around the waist.
- Walk your hips out at an angle so the fence can't hold them up.
- Turn the corner and drive through, landing in side control or half guard.
Common mistakes
- Driving straight in: the fence absorbs your power.
- Head in the middle of the chest, inviting a guillotine.
- Stopping after they hit the mat instead of passing immediately.
